Passing of Mary Weeks

We wanted to share some sad news. Former founding Kekaulike teacher and 20 for 20 award recipient, Mary Weeks passed away at her home in Washington State. We send our deepest sympathies and our thoughts and prayers are with the Weeks family.

Mary was a social studies and advance placement teacher who challenged students to do their best. Along with her teaching duties, she also led Kekaulike through its accreditation process. She, along with Principal Susan Scofield felt the Class of 1999 should graduate from an accredited high school, despite national standards allowing new schools 6 years to achieve an accredited status. Through her hard work and efforts, KKHS achieved a 6 year accreditation (highest level) two years ahead of schedule and in time for the graduating class of 1999, a true gift for the first graduating class.
